In his last film, director Leo McCarey presents William Holden and Clifton Webb playing priests at a remote outpost in China during the Communist uprising of 1949. With echoes to McCarey’s Going My Way, the relationship between a young priest and his superior parallels the earlier film. Here, however, the pair must escape the savagery of Communist forces when they destroy the churches and sentence Christians to death. Movie shown in Black and White.
