Humberto Belli, a native Nicaraguan, lawyer, and sociologist, is eminently qualified to grapple with these questions. Belli was an active member of the Sandinista front until 1975. After his decision to become a Christian, he was the editorial page editor for La Prensa, an independent newspaper. When total censorship prevented the open debate of religious and theological issues in the press, Belli decided to leave his country and help Christians outside Nicaragua understand the religious dimension of dissension in Latin America. |
