2011 School / Parish Message from the President of Ignatius Press:

Dear Catholic Educators and Pastors,

Ignatius Press is pleased to introduce YOUCAT (p. 3), a new catechism written for youth. YOUCAT uses the "four pillars" format of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, while presenting the faith in a lively, visually appealing way. It fulfills Pope Benedict XVI's desire to have a catechism that responds to the needs of today's youth using a design they will find attractive and understandable. Pope Benedict has said of YOUCAT, "Study this Catechism! This is my heartfelt desire." We think YOUCAT will become the "go-to" book for today's Catholic youth when it is introduced at World Youth Day in Madrid. It will become an indispensible resource for every young person in your school or parish.

The Faith and Life (new Third Edition) series (pp. 4-5) has been updated to conform to the new translation of the Roman Missal. We are also pleased to announce that Faith and Life is now available online in Spanish for the very first time via MyCatholicFaithDelivered.com (p. 5).

Other new products this year include a new line of books for very young children produced in cooperation with Magnificat (p.7).These colorful new books from pre-school through the early grades of elementary school make wonderful classroom supplements. Plus, there are coloring books every child will enjoy. Want to make the stories of Jesus "come alive" in the classroom? The new Truth and Life Dramatized Audio Bible (p. 12) of the New Testament is just what you need. This brilliantly-recorded audio Bible contains the dramatic voices of many international stars, along with music and sound effects, to bring the New Testament to life. This is a very effective tool in the classroom or Bible Study Group.

Tired of the slanted view of history found in many secular history books? The CSTP History Texts for Catholic Schools (p. 19) offer a balanced perspective. The series now includes four volumes appropriate for grades 5-10, covering the history of America, world cultures and geography, and the development of Christian Civilization from the time of Christ up to and including Pope Benedict XVI! The entire series has been reprinted with improved bindings to withstand the daily use of students in a rough environment.

While you're checking out the new history books, you might want to review the new titles in the Ignatius Critical Editions (p. 18). These include excellent critical essays to enhance the reading of the text. Classic literature without ideological twists!

These great resources and much more await you in this catalogue. These materials are all designed to aid you in the classroom, to help form teachers and their students, and to enliven your parishioners with solid and attractive Catholic materials to strengthen their faith, lift their souls, and move their hearts to follow Christ more closely.

In the Lord,

Mark Brumley
President, Ignatius Press
