The Didache Series
The Didache Series was requested by Cardinal George of Chicago. He requested a series of "texts that would set out clearly and adequately the teaching of the Catholic Church." Each textbook has been found "to be in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church" by the USCCB.
Over 100,000 books in The Didache Series have already been sold. The Didache Series books are being used by Catholic high schools (30%), colleges, homeschoolers, RCIA, adult education classes, families and individuals.
The Didache Series takes its name from the first known Christian catechesis and the earliest known Christian writing outside of Scripture, the Didache [DID-uh-kay] written in the first century. The name of the work, Didache, is appropriate because it comes from the Greek word for “teaching” and indicates that this writing contains the teaching of the Apostles and, as such, it is the teaching of the Church.
Today, the most comprehensive catechesis is the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The Didache Series, which now offers both full year courses (four subjects) and semester courses (8 subjects - 6 core, 2 elective) based on the USCCB high school curricula guidelines, presents the life and doctrine of the Catholic Church in the context of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the teachings of Vatican II as witnessed by the pontificate of Pope John Paul II and the continuing witness of Pope Benedict XVI. The Didache Series also draws from Sacred Scripture, the lives of the Saints, and the Doctors and Fathers of the Church.
The Didache Series is ideal for high school and adult education, seminaries and colleges, RCIA, catechism classes, and home schooling. “The Ad Hoc Committee to oversee the Use of the Catechism, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, has found [these texts] to be in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church.”
The beauty and quality of these colorful hardbound books qualify them as true art books and make them perfect for gift-giving. The art and knowledge of over 2,000 years has been compiled in The Didache Series. These inspiring, sometimes breathtaking books will become treasured additions to family and parish libraries—to be passed along from generation to generation.
"It's a textbook series like no other, because all four books are solidly orthodox...lavishly illustrated with beautiful artwork and photography, maps, charts and diagrams..." [Comments on the initial full year course curriculum]
