| Dear Friend of Ignatius Press,
Recently Ignatius Press began promoting a powerful new film, The Passion of The Christ. This is a film that is well-worth all of the attention that has been given to it, and it is sure to do well in the theaters. But there is another movie project that we are interested in, one that has been written, produced, directed and acted by people who are outside of the Hollywood mainstream. Unlike Mel Gibson, these people have to rely on word of mouth instead of paid advertising. Thérèse is a production of St. Luke Films, directed by well-known Catholic actor Leonardo Defilippis (Maximilian, Saint of Auschwitz). Starring Lindsay Younce as Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, this lavish film depicts the life and death of Saint Thérèse. A review of the movie by Ignatius Press Marketing Director Anthony Ryan is on our site. Click here to read the review. Evangelizing
Hollywood Please help spread the word about this project. If it is ever to reach theaters, Hollywood must hear that people want to see it. You can find more information, film clips, the trailer and more at www.theresemovie.com.

St.
Thérèse of Lisieux: Her Family, Her God, Her MessageFr. Bernard Bro Fr. Bernard Bro, director of the French publishing house, Éditions du Cerf, and a key figure in publishing the definitive editions of Thérèse's writings, decided to set forth those aspects of her life, personality, and writing that do indeed mark Thérèse of Lisieux as one of the truly great exponents of Catholic doctrine. What she offers in her life and in her writing, he claims, is "one of the most certain and simplest evangelical shortcuts ever proposed". What we find in her words is a "struggle between darkness and faith, humor and sadness, realism and pretense, maturity and childhood. The life, words, and texts of Thérèse are of an astonishing freshness, accuracy, immediacy, strength, and genius. |
The
Hidden Face: A Study of Therese of LisieuxIda Friederike Görres This study of the life and character of Therese of Lisieux is a remarkable, penetrating, and fascinating search for the truth behind one of the most astounding religious figures of modern times. A young nun who entered a convent at fifteen and died at twenty-four, Thérèse roused an incredible storm of spontaneous veneration only a few months after her death, and has been called by one Pope as “the greatest saint of the modern times.” Countless images of the sweetly smiling saint flooded the world. But who was she, really? The Hidden Face has sprung from this question. It presents the true Therese, as objectively as possible, and gives a convincing interpretation of her sainthood. |
Spiritual
ChildhoodVernon Johnson St. Thérèse of Lisieux, now a Doctor of the Church, summarized her spirituality in these simple but profound words, "My Little Way is all love." Her complete and unshakable trust in the love of God our Father was the foundation of her spiritual life, a childlike relationship with our Creator that raised her to the heights of sanctity in only 24 years of life. |

St.
Therese and the RosesHelen Walker Homan This new story from the Vision Books series for youth 9 -15 years old is a beautiful story about the most popular saint of modern times, St. Therese of Lisieux, the "Little Flower." Growing up in Lisieux, France was occasionally painful but usually delightful for Therese and her four sisters. For practical Marie, studious Pauline, hot-tempered Leonie, mischievous Celine, and beautiful, lovable Therese, growing up meant growing closer to God. The Little Flower found her pathway to holiness right in her own back yard. |
CélineStephane-Joseph Piat This biography of Céline Martin will be most welcomed by the in-numerable devotees of St. Thérèse because Céline was her closest sister and friend who had a great influence on Thérèse and who also became a very holy woman herself. |
