The Works of G.K. Chesterton from Ignatius Press

Ignatius Press is happy to gather in one place the G. K. Chesterton titles we have in print—and that's quite a bit! Published in print, e-book, audio book, and more, this should help you browse our entire Chesterton catalog and choose the format you want. You'll find books written by and about the wonderful and influential wit here, as well as bonus material we've already put online for easy, free reading.

Who?

Don't know who Chesterton is? (Really?!) Our about page features the brief, popular article, "G.K. Chesterton: Who Is This Guy and Why Haven't I Heard of Him?" by Dale Ahlquist, President of the American Chesterton Society.

Collected Works

Chief among our publishing efforts with regard to Chesterton is our ongoing, multi-volume Collected Works. In it you'll find his major spiritual texts like Heretics, Orthodoxy, and The Everlasting Man alongside his popular creative writing, like the rollicking Man Who Was Thursday and the Father Brown Mysteries, as well as his entire stint writing for the Illustrated London News. And much besides! With nearly 30 volumes in print so far, it is a collection for Chesterton enthusiasts and everyone who wants to soak up the great man's breadth of thought.

Individual Titles & Multimedia

As Chesterton once wrote, "Literature is a luxury; fiction is a necessity." Fortunately, he's penned both! The author of popular defective fiction and thrillers, his keen insight is rarely far from view. He also spent a great deal of time writing poetry, both farcical and epic. Our Novels and Poetry page tells more.

But, of course, he is often best known for his non-fiction work, particularly in the realm of theology, philosophy, politics, and their controversies. This is the Chesterton for those who want to get at the big truths: God, man, and, as one of his books is titled, What's Wrong with the World. Read all about it here.

Ignatius Press has also brought into print a good number of excellent books about Chesterton, whether written by him or by biographers and interpreters like Joseph Pearce and Dale Ahlquist. See books written about G.K. Chesterton here.

With all of our books, we try to bring different formats to our readers. A great many are available in quality paperback or hardback, e-book, and audio book on CD or audio download. We even have some movies. As you navigate the site, the format options available to you will be linked at the end of the book or item's description. Choose the format that's right for you!

Online Articles and Excerpts

We also provide excerpts from books we publish online, as well as essays on Chesterton and his throught and interviews with authors reflecting on him. You can find the excerpts here and the articles and interviews here.
